The Organist & Choirmaster is Dan Chambers, who has been in post since January 2006. He has just completed a BA in Music at Worcester College, Oxford, where he also held the Organ Scholarship, giving him responsibility for rehearsing and training the two choirs (one of boy trebles and male voices, the other of mixed undergraduates) for the four weekly services.
He is now studying towards an MA in Music Teaching in Professional Practice at Reading University, while also working towards obtaining Fellowships to the Royal College of Organists and the Guild of Church Musicians. He teaches piano and organ in Oxford, and performs in regular organ recitals.
He has written both secular and sacred music, some of which is available from the SibeliusMusic website. He has been involved in the theatre, both as a sound engineer and a pit musician for musicals including Grease, Little Shop of Horrors, Show Boat, West Side Story, Oliver, Les Miserables and Carmen, and has written the score for a musical version of Peter Pan to be produced in Wallingford in the summer of 2008.
